Installation: I installed my own blinds!
I highly recommend the blackout slumber shade for anyone who requires a pitch black room on a sunny summer day. I'm a long time insomniac who struggles with sleep, particularly in the summer months when bright light bleeds through blackout curtains at 9:30pm. These blinds make the dark 'tomb' environment I require possible. Chose standard style - installation hardware for header required use of pliers to open the hook/lip a bit, as it arrived without sufficient clearance to lock the header in appropriately. Otherwise - very easy, perfectly fitted, quick shipping.

Installation: I installed my own blinds!
I live in Fresno where the summers are unbearably hot. There are two rooms in my home with south-facing windows and during the warm weather, they were always 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the other rooms. I installed these shades a couple of weeks ago. The temperature outdoors is currently at 90 degrees and for the first time, the south-facing rooms are staying as cool as the rest of the house. These shades are a godsend. The company rep was very informative regarding which window coverings would provide the best thermal insulation. I am very pleased with the purchase of these shades.

Looking to block heat in the summer mainly: double cells (read that triple cells exist but could not find them for sale) and 3/8"(smaller the better) is the best blocker.

Looking to block heat in the summer mainly: double cells (read that triple cells exist but could not find them for sale) and 3/8"(smaller the better) is the best blocker. Of course, light is blocked out with heat. This seller is the only one I could find selling the side tracks which will make a big difference. In addition, I just purchased a roll of white silicone rubber window seal (air-sealing tape) 3/8" H which I'll put just in front of the shade on the bottom sill. Our sill has a bow of about that much. Of course I know that outdoor shutters are even better for blocking heat, but that would be difficult for me to install and potentially would block views. With shades, you just put them up, and they are out of your way. I thought it was very professional of these guys too that they explained the differences in the materials on the website. I made one phone call to take them down again for track installation 3 weeks after putting up the shade. On the phone, very clear about how to get them back down again. No wait time--hope this business does well!

Installation: I installed my own blinds!
Firstly I seldom take the time to write reviews, but I wanted to tell everyone that I was very pleased with this product. While they are not really noise proof, they are absolute blackout, and contribute to noise reduction. Paired with heavy lined linen curtains, they muffled street noise and the sounds of the building next doors condenser humming. The blinds were relatively easy to install once you understood the concept of having to put them up to fit the side tracks, then take them down to glue the magnetic strip for the side tracks to the frame. Then reinstall, and attach the side tracks. Yes there are cheaper blinds, but this is a quality product TOTAL BLACKOUT, and they achieve that! Great for sleepers who are easily disturbed. Also reduce drafts and heating requirements. Highly recommend.
